LG Electronics (LG) today announced U.S. availability for its latest UltraGear gaming monitor (model 25G590B), priced at $999.99. As the world's first Full HD (FHD / 1,920 x 1,080) gaming monitor with a native 1000 Hz refresh rate, the new UltraGear model delivers the speed, clarity and consistency needed for competitive gaming. To celebrate its launch, customers who pre-order by August 31, 2026, can receive two years of LG Premium Care for $1 and earn 5% back in MyLG Rewards.
Built with fast-paced first-person shooter (FPS) titles in mind, the 25G590B features a 25-inch display size widely favored in esports, allowing players to track opponents and scan the in-game environment efficiently to support faster reaction times and sharper tactical decision-making. An integrated FPS Counter adds another layer of performance visibility, giving players real-time data on how smoothly every frame is loading, whether they're deep in competitive play, editing content or watching a movie.
World's First Native 1000 Hz at 1080p Monitor for Enhanced Motion Clarity
The new LG UltraGear gaming monitor sets a new benchmark for competitive play, pairing a native 1000 Hz refresh rate with 1080p resolution to deliver the smoothness, motion clarity and responsiveness today's gamers demand. As the first available monitor to achieve native 1000 Hz at FHD resolution right out of the box, unlike dual-mode monitors that require toggling settings to unlock peak refresh rates, it moves the technology beyond prototype-level demonstrations and lets tournament contenders train and compete under the same consistent conditions every time. The monitor's Dynamic Action Sync technology further minimizes input lag for faster reactions, with performance that shines brightest in FPS games where accurate aiming and near-instantaneous visual confirmation are key to victory.
The new UltraGear gaming monitor also takes motion clarity to the next level with Motion Blur Reduction Pro, LG's advanced technology built to give players less blur and more control during fast-paced gameplay. By making moving objects appear sharper and easier to track, MBR Pro helps players follow rapid lateral movement with greater ease, lock onto targets with improved precision and stay focused through the most intense moments of competitive esports play. The monitor further supports fluid, virtually tear-free performance with NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium, ensuring smooth, low-latency gameplay at high refresh rates so every frame stays sharp. Paired with an advanced IPS panel and low-reflection film, the monitor further elevates gaming immersion, offering exceptional color consistency and heightened visibility while drastically reducing glare.
25-Inch Display for Esports and Competitive Gaming
The 25G590B centers its design around a 25-inch FHD display, a size that has become a gold standard among competitive gamers, letting players take in the entire screen without shifting their gaze and keeping every enemy, icon and cue within easy reach when reflexes matter most. That same attention to detail carries through to the monitor's physical build, with a sleek, minimalist stand that gives the setup a clean look while taking up very little desk space, leaving players free to move their mouse without obstruction.
Calibration markings etched into the stand allow for quick, repeatable adjustments to height, swivel and tilt, so a favorite setup can be recreated in seconds. Smaller design choices round out the experience, including a built-in hook for neatly storing headsets within arm's reach and the glow of the UltraGear Emblem lighting, which brings a customizable ambient touch that nods to the brand's signature aesthetic.
AI-Powered Features for More Immersive, Focused Gameplay
The 25G590B goes beyond raw speed with on-device gaming AI features designed to sharpen both immersion and usability. AI Scene Optimization brings added realism and depth to every scene, intelligently adjusting picture settings, while AI Sound delivers a more authentic spatial audio experience along with clearer in-game communications when paired with a compatible headset. Together, these intelligent capabilities work in step with the monitor's ultra-fast performance, rounding out an ideal platform built for competitive gaming.

I guess you have to reduce the res to 720p, or lower if it's even possible. Or maybe these are for gamers still looking for an advantage in Quake 2. :D

Here comes the 5090 2000W bios SLI edition...
Really anything over ~300hz does your eye notice anything different? I'd think 480hz would probably be the max perceivable...

Marketing had a field day adding that 0 to the 60/100 Hz GIFs :D
I wanna see this reviewed by Hardware/Monitors Unboxed and Blur Busters, we've known for some time that super high refresh rate IPSes need accurate backlight strobing, or they just look like a mess. The Philips one that beat this to market by about two months was not well reviewed:
Also, $1000 is a bit too steep for what's functionally a very fast monitor with bottom of the barrel image quality. Hopefully prices come down as more models come out.

No mention of this being OLED, so assuming it's an LCD how the hell are they running this at 1000Hz without tons of overdrive/inverse ghosting? 1/1000=1ms, so seems like fake technology since no LCD I've ever seen tested does better than 3-5ms refresh.
As an aside, vkQuake unlocked runs at 4500fps on my PC, so wake me up when they make a 5KHz OLED.

There's no way an IPS is fast enough for 1000hz.

I don't believe it's IPS either, got to be some BS there.

Hopefully prices come down as more models come out.I don't think this has any type of BFI/backlight strobing (500Hz), which is sad because that would definitely be usable in CS2/Valorant. Unless that is what that "MBR Pro" mode is, hopefully. The marketing paragraph in the article doesn't hint at frame insertion or backlight control, so no clue if it is BFI or not.

Going from 60hz to 120hz is a very noticeable improvement. Going from 120hz to 240hz is slightly noticeable with diminshing returns. Who the hell is gonna shell out $1000 for a tiny 25" 1000hz monitor when their eyes can't even detect the difference between 240hz and 1000hz?

Unless I missed it, they don't say what it is but it does seem to handle motion blur masterfully well

Bet it's DP 1.4/a and not 2.1a/b. I know may not need DP 2.1, but to me seeing DP 1.4 indicates old internals and this monitor being in development for a long time or waiting amongst the 10s of monitor models they release per year.

This means that this monitor is only fully compatible with Blackwell/50 series GPUs or Radeon Pro cards from RDNA 3 generation onwards. DP80 support was intentionally disabled on Radeon RX gaming GPUs.

TheLostSwedeSee, this is why the world is going to shit, people making assumptions without even bothering to check the facts.First off, rude. But second, typically these announcement articles of products don't always have a product site yet. So there isn't a spec sheet to check yet, just an announcement that the product is coming soon. Like here's an example: www.techpowerup.com/352021/viewsonic-launches-the-xg2738-2k-oled-gaming-monitor-with-qd-oled-technology-and-oled-care
"New" monitor being announced/launches and has DP 1.4
source: www.viewsonic.com/global/products/sheet/XG2738-2K-OLED
(Some reason they say that the monitor has 2x DP ports on the main product page spec sheet, but don't say the version until you open their data sheet.)
If I'm betting, ya, I didn't know it had dp 2.1 at the time.
My previous comment is commentary on how often "new" monitors have DP 1.4. TPU could supply spec sheets in their articles. But I don't know what happens behind the scenes if TPU is not allowed to supply more then just copying and pasting the company's announcement info. Or if TPU only have so much time to give attention to turning out articles. Or, perhaps, at the time of writing and posting some articles a company hasn't posted their product page yet.

And FYI, there's a link to the product page at the bottom of the press release.
It's also rude to ask dumb questions without even looking at the product page.
Also, it's a press release, they're posted as is, LG didn't provide any further specs and their spec pages aren't easily repostable, unlike many other companies.
As for the ViewSonic, very different class of monitor.
