  • Xiaomi Auto's international website says the brand will officially enter Europe in 2027, and it has opened inquiries for dealer and distribution partnerships.
  • The launch of the website and overseas accounts marks the start of Xiaomi's public build-up to taking its car business global.

Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810) launched overseas social media accounts and an international website for its vehicle business on Wednesday, establishing a public entry point for a global expansion planned to begin in 2027.

The overseas account, named Xiaomi Auto, has begun operating, and the international website xiaomiauto.com also went live today. An image on the site reads, "Xiaomi Auto Officially coming to Europe in 2027."

You know Xiaomi. Now meet Xiaomi Auto.
Everything that goes into a Xiaomi car.
The cars. The engineering. The people behind them.
See you on the road.

The wording further confirms that Europe will be the first stop for Xiaomi Auto's overseas push. The site has yet to disclose which countries will be covered first, however, nor has it given local prices or a more specific launch timeline.

The homepage showcases projects including the Xiaomi SU7, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, Xiaomi YU7 GT, Xiaomi Sky Nomad and Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo.

The website also features Newsroom, Innovation and Core Technology sections, as well as a Dealer and Distribution Inquiries portal for potential dealers and distribution partners.

The design suggests Xiaomi is preparing its overseas brand promotion and sales channels in parallel. However, the models and projects displayed on the website do not mean the company has confirmed its initial export lineup.

The website currently focuses on showcasing the brand and its technology, without a vehicle configurator, local pricing or a purchasing portal. That indicates the launch remains a preparatory step rather than the formal start of overseas sales.

Xiaomi president William Lu said in May that the company planned to formally begin its automotive overseas expansion in the third or fourth quarter of 2027, with preparations proceeding according to schedule.

Xiaomi's strategy is to enter developed markets before expanding into developing economies, target the mid- to high-end segment before moving into the midrange market, and prioritize right-hand-drive markets before left-hand-drive ones.

Lu said at the time that automobiles are highly regulated products, with preparations involving legal and regulatory compliance, product localization, and the development of sales channels and retail networks.

The international website lists Munich as one of Xiaomi Auto's global research and development locations, alongside Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing and Wuhan, showing that the company has established a research presence in Europe.

Xiaomi also appointed auto division vice president Yu Liguo in May to concurrently head its overseas business preparation group, reporting to group CEO Lei Jun and Lu.

The international website consistently uses Xiaomi Auto as the English name for the automotive business. CnEVPost previously used Xiaomi EV, based on the Chinese website's xiaomiev.com domain, and will use Xiaomi Auto going forward.

Xiaomi's overseas preparations come as growth in its domestic vehicle sales is slowing. The company delivered 31,267 vehicles in July, up 2.68% year-on-year but down 9.99% month-on-month.

Deliveries totaled 216,322 vehicles in the first 7 months of the year, equivalent to 39% of its annual target of 550,000. To meet the target, Xiaomi would need to deliver an average of about 66,700 vehicles a month over the remaining 5 months.

With overseas sales not scheduled to begin until the second half of 2027, domestic production capacity and the ramp-up of new models will continue to determine Xiaomi Auto's near-term growth.
